| Traditional IRA | Traditional IRAs have an annual contribution of $5,000 with an added catch-up of $1,000 for anyone age 50 or over. There is no penalty for distribution if you are age 59 ½. There is a required minimum distribution for anyone age 70 ½ and over. Contributions to your Traditional IRA may be tax-deductible depending upon your income level, and should be discussed with your accountant. |
| Roth IRA | Roth IRAs allow an annual contribution of $5,000 with an added catch-up of $1,000 for anyone age 50 or over. With the Roth IRA, deposit must be left in for minimum of 5 years avoid a penalty. Taxes are paid on deposits. No minimum distributions are required after the age of 70 ½. |
| Coverdell Educational Savings Account | Educational IRAs can be opened by a responsible individual for anyone under the age of 18. This specific IRA is used for educational purposes only and has a maximum yearly contribution of $2,000. |
| Simplified Employee Pension (SEP) IRA |
With a SEP plan, the employer sets up individual accounts for each of the participating employees. The company funds the plan entirely and is able to make deductible contributions up to 25% of annual compensation for all participating employees. SEPs are appealing to companies because of their minimal record keeping and reporting requirements, as well as, the flexibility in allocating annual contributions.
